We’ve always made drawings a part of the editing process.

• In Mud by Chris McCabe, Borak and Kar must find a bubble lost among 24 types of mud to end their relationship. The figures reproduced throughout the brown text are sculptures and prints made by David Henningham using these varieties of mud and a half-brick.
• In 60 Lovers To Make And Do, master collage artist Sophie Herxheimer clips human forms suggested by pictures from books and magazines. These accompany her dazzling poems about women cobbling together partners for themselves from everyday objects.
• Drawing is an important theme in The Blackbird by Claire Allen. David Henningham’s drawings from life help make the character Robert more present by reminding us of his life as a sculptor and draughtsman before he sucumbed to Alzheimer’s.
