It isn’t just everything that is solid that melts into thin air, language itself becomes bankrupt, and loses currency. We kept a post-it note on the radio to note down the absurd proliferating phraseology of the reccession. We thought, perhaps by reversing Marx’s maxim and turning the metaphors back into a real object we could point out the absurdity of supposed financial meltdown in a world of Industrial plenty.
